Positive house-building sector likely to need engineers on plumbing courses
<!-- @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } A:link { so-language: zxx } -->An industry commentator has suggested that the house-building sector is beginning to find some renewed confidence, which may lead to more workers needing to go on plumbing courses.
Home Builders Federation (HBF) head of communications Steve Turner pointed out that it is too early to call it a full recovery in the construction industry, but the situation is better than it has been in the past two years.
This positive talk could mean that more workers who have completed plumbing courses are needed during the development of new homes.
Mr Turner remarked: "We have seen market stabilisation, industry confidence has improved and the whole sector is much more positive than it was a year ago."
His comments were made following research by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, which indicated that construction activity rose for the second consecutive month in April.
The HBF representative suggested one factor that is holding back the industry is poor mortgage availability.
